Claire's Magic Touch in Poole offers a unique, holistic approach that combines clinical hypnotherapy with therapeutic bodywork to support both the mind and body. With over 16 years of hands-on experience, her work has evolved to address not only physical symptoms, but the deeper held patterns that influence how we respond to stress, change, and life experiences.
Pain, tension, anxiety, and ongoing symptoms are often more than just physical - they can reflect how the body has adapted and held onto experiences over time. By integrating Clinical Hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and body-based therapies. Holistically supporting deeper, more lasting change, rather than simply addressing cognitive symptoms.
Each session is completely bespoke, tailored to you as an individual. Clients often come to Claire when they are experiencing stress and anxiety, emotional blocks, persistent physical symptoms, feeling stuck, or navigating recovery and life changes.
Together, I will work at a pace that feels right, combining subconscious work, body awareness, breathwork and hands-on techniques where appropriate. I highlight and strengthen the resources and capabilities you already have, while also helping to develop new strategies and responses where needed developing a kinder, more supportive relationship with yourself.
This is not a one-size-fits-all treatment, but a collaborative process designed to help you reconnect with your body, restore balance, and move forward with greater ease and clarity.
What is Clinical Hypnotherapy?

Clinical hypnotherapy is a short solution orientated therapeutic approach that uses focused relaxation and guided attention to access a naturally receptive state of mind. This is the state where brain networks predominantly operate in the theta-wave range. In this state, it becomes easier to work with subconscious patterns, habits, emotional responses, and thought processes that may be influencing how you feel, think, and behave.
It is a structured, evidence-informed therapeutic modality used to support a wide range of emotional and psychological concerns. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis and more importantly it is a collaborative process.
Evidence-Informed Benefits
Clinical hypnotherapy is widely used within therapeutic and clinical settings and is supported by a growing body of peer reviewed research. Evidence suggests it may be beneficial in supporting:
Anxiety and stress-related conditions
Phobias and fear responses
Pain perception and chronic pain management
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and functional gut disorders
Sleep difficulties
Behavioural change and habit patterns
Rather than replacing medical care, it is often used as a complementary approach to support regulation of the nervous system, emotional processing, and behavioural change.
How Sessions Work: Initial Consultation for Hypnotherapy
All sessions are tailored to your individual needs. Once your appointment is booked, you will receive an online consultation form electronically, which must be completed and submitted at least 24 hours prior to your first session. This allows for a thorough understanding of your history, goals, and any relevant background, ensuring our time together is as effective and focused as possible.
Your appointment will be confirmed via email or text through Fresha, my online booking system, along with details of payment.
The initial session is 90 minutes, allowing time for a comprehensive consultation and an integrative therapeutic hypnosis experience. During this session, we will explore your presenting concerns in depth, how they are affecting your daily life, and what positive change would look like for you.
We will work collaboratively to clarify your goals and identify realistic, meaningful outcomes. From there, we begin mapping out the most effective therapeutic approach to meet your needs.
Session’s may include an integrative blend of approaches such as:
Clinical hypnotherapy (guided, focused relaxation and subconscious work)
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques to support cognitive and behavioural change
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) to help regulate and process emotional responses
Somatic awareness work to strengthen the mind–body connection
Integrated body-based techniques, where appropriate to your presenting concerns
Guided breathwork to support nervous system regulation and emotional grounding
The aim is not to force change, but to support your body's systems in responding differently over time, creating shifts that feel natural, grounded, and sustainable.
You will also receive an introduction to self-hypnosis audio prior to your first session including how it works, what to expect, and how to engage with the process effectively to help you understand the state and begin building confidence in self-regulation techniques.
Ongoing Hypnotherapy Sessions
Ongoing sessions will be 60 minutes and continue to be fully tailored to your evolving needs and therapeutic goals. Each session builds upon previous work, supporting deeper change over time.
Sessions may include:
Clinical hypnotherapy for subconscious re-patterning and change work
NLP techniques to shift thought patterns and behavioural responses
EFT (tapping) for emotional regulation and release
Somatic awareness practices to support emotional integration
Breathwork and relaxation techniques to regulate the nervous system
Integrated bodywork approaches, where appropriate
Each session begins with a review of your progress, followed by a clear focus for the work ahead. During hypnosis, I will guide you into a deeply relaxed and focused state where imagery, somatic awareness and therapeutic suggestion are used to support change at a subconscious level.
The intention is to help you develop greater emotional resilience, confidence, clarity, and internal balance, supporting long-term transformation rather than short-term relief.
Following each session, you will receive via either email or WhatsApp a summary with key reflections, along with any relevant tools or guidance to support continued progress between sessions.
Support Between Sessions
Therapy is a collaborative process. While hypnotherapy can be highly effective, lasting change is supported by your active engagement between sessions. You will be encouraged to practise techniques and integrate tools into daily life to strengthen outcomes and reinforce progress.

How does hypnosis work?
«Hypnosis is a gentle, relaxing process that helps you settle into a calm, focused state where the mind feels quieter and less overwhelmed, sometimes referred to as a trance state. You’re always aware and in control, but it becomes easier to step out of unhelpful patterns like overthinking, stress, or automatic reactions. In this state, your mind is more open to positive, supportive suggestions, allowing you to respond differently to thoughts, emotions, and even physical sensations.
By working with your mind’s natural ability to adapt and change, hypnosis can help you build healthier habits, feel more at ease, and create lasting, meaningful shifts. In this state, therapeutic suggestions and techniques can help create new perspectives, strengthen internal resources, and support healthier ways of responding to thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
What can clinical hypnotherapy help with?
«Clinical hypnotherapy is commonly used to support a wide range of emotional, psychological, and physical stress-related concerns, including:
• Anxiety and generalised stress
• Phobias and fears
• Panic responses
• Sleep difficulties
• Low confidence and self-esteem
• Behavioural habits and patterns
• Emotional overwhelm
• Stress-related physical symptoms, including pain perception and IBS-related symptoms
It is also frequently used alongside other therapeutic approaches as part of a holistic treatment plan
Is clinical hypnotherapy evidence-based?
«Clinical hypnotherapy is an established complementary therapy with a growing body of research exploring its effectiveness. Studies have shown positive outcomes in areas such as anxiety reduction, phobia work, pain management, and stress-related conditions, including Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
It is also used within clinical and medical settings as an adjunct therapy to support nervous system regulation, emotional processing, and behavioural change.
While it is not a replacement for medical care, it can be a highly effective supportive therapy when used appropriately and individually tailored.
Will I lose control during hypnosis?
«No. You remain fully aware and in control throughout the entire process. Hypnosis is not a state of unconsciousness or mind control. You can hear everything being said, and you are always able to come out of the relaxed state whenever you choose. You cannot be made to do anything against your will, and you remain an active participant in the process at all times.
What does a session feel like?
«Most people describe hypnosis as a deeply relaxed, focused, and pleasant state—similar to daydreaming or being absorbed in a book or film. Some people feel deeply calm and still, while others simply feel focused and reflective. Each person’s experience is unique, and it can vary from session to session.
How many sessions will I need?
«This depends entirely on the individual and the issue being addressed. Some people experience meaningful shifts in a few sessions, while others benefit from a longer, more supportive process.
We will always work collaboratively to assess progress and tailor sessions to your needs. Usually, 3-10 sessions are required.
Can hypnotherapy be combined with bodywork?
«Yes. In my practice, clinical hypnotherapy can be integrated with therapeutic bodywork where appropriate. This body–mind approach supports both psychological and physical responses, particularly where stress, tension, trauma, or surgery recovery are involved.
This integration allows for a more complete and holistic approach to change and healing.
